Lovely Wildflower Borders at This Season of the Year

Queen Anne's Lace and Joe-Pye-Weed
A bouquet of lovely Joe-Pye-Weed and Queen Anne's Lace.

In the book "Wings from the Wind", for the poem "Portrait By A Neighbor", Tasha Tudor has illustrated the page with Queen Anne's Lace.

Portrait By A Neighbor

"Her lawn looks like a meadow,
And if she mows the place
She leaves the clover standing
And the Queen Anne's lace!"

~ Edna St. Vincent Millay

In addition to the Queen Anne's Lace and clover, at Corgyncombe Cottage, we keep the Dame's Rocket, Daisies, Joe-Pye-Weed, Asters, and other pretty wildflowers, standing. Diane does not care for Burdock and Dock.

On the cover of the book "The Real Pretend", that Sarah was the model for, Tasha Tudor illustrated Queen Anne's Lace and other wildflowers. Also, in the book "A Time to Keep", by Tasha Tudor, in the border for the August Birthday party in the woods, are various August flowers, including Queen Anne's Lace.

Along Corgi Creek, Joe-Pye-Weed in abundance grows at this season of the year. Bordering our swamp, half a mile away from Corgyncombe Cottage, is a lovely mauve haze of the flourishing Joe-Pye-Weed.
