The bleeding heart was the only flower to be seen above the snow cover, its height rising above the others.
Yesterday at Corgyncombe Cottage 'twas cold with snow upon the bleeding heart, the violets, the lily-of-the-valley, primroses, and lawn daisies. One is reminded of the February page of "Rosemary for Remembrance" by Tasha Tudor, with her lovely illustrations of bleeding heart, violets, lily-of-the-valley and pretty little wrens. This in turn reminds one of the pretty little wren who nests in the little house in the apple tree between the garden of herbs and creek at Corgyncombe Cottage.
