Cream Separator and Goat's Milk

The Corgyncombe Dairy
The Corgyncombe Dairy hand crank cream separator.

Nubian Goat Carmella Lucille's milk.

The Corgyncombe Dairy has found that leaving out one of the ten disks and cranking slower than 60 rpm gives the best results.

Diane's husband turns the crank whilst Diane runs about like Beatrix Potter's Anna Maria, keeping the milk tank full, emptying the bowls, and various other tasks.

Dear Thrifty Countrywoman,

I know it may sound odd, but doing things the old fashioned way has always made it more interesting for me.

Goats are fun to keep but a lot of work, too. Besides the feeding, watering, and milking there are hooves to trim, barn to clean, and hay to bring in... but we really enjoy our goats.

Take care,
Diane

Dear Matty,

We are so glad that you are enjoying our blog.

We drink a lot of our milk and I use it in cooking and baking. I have churned butter with the cream. How wonderful that you make soap and cheese. I hope to make soap and cheese in the future. The best and most delightful use is ice cream! We use Tasha Tudor's receipt and it is so delicious!!!

The separator I ordered from Hoegger Supply Co. They didn't have one in stock at the time so they sent one from The Coburn Company, Inc.

We hope you keep coming back to visit The Corgyncombe Courant blog.

Take care,
Diane

Dear Diane and Sarah,

There is always so much loveliness and beautiful simplicity to behold here at your Corgyn Combe Courant! After delighting in your Tasha Tudor post, I enjoyed seeing your Corgyncombe dairy. Oh, goats milk is so wonderful! I love seeing the old-fashioned cream separator. It is truly beautiful! I also enjoyed your canning post. Everything you share is beautiful! Such wonderful photos and lovely written words. Thank you both for sharing your hearts!

Love, Paula
