Joan Donaldson Represents Tennessee at National Book Festival

"On Viney's Mountain" Receives Honors
The Corgyncombe Courant again congratulates authoress Joan Donaldson for the achievements of her latest book, "On Viney's Mountain"!

Joan will be in Washington D.C. on September 25th with her book "On Viney's Mountain" representing Tennessee at the National Book Festival. "On Viney's Mountain" also received a Friends of American Writers Juvenile Literary Award and is on the Bank Street list of the Best Books of 2010.

Besides "On Viney's Mountain", Joan has written "The Secret of the Red Shoes", "A Pebble and A Pen", and "The Real Pretend".

"The Real Pretend" written by Joan Donaldson and illustrated by Tasha Tudor.
Sarah of Corgyncombe was Tasha's model for the illustrations of the little girl Kathy in "The Real Pretend". It is a true story about a little girl who goes round to her neighbors, taking pretend orders from the Larkins Catalog.

In Joan's book "A Pebble and A Pen", Spencerian Script plays a large part in the story.

The Corgyncombe Library has a wonderful example of Joan's lovely Spencerian Script in the hand signed inscription of our special copy of "The Real Pretend". Diane and Sarah also enjoy calligraphy and Spencerian Script.
